Katie Coyle ’08

Class of 2008, Major in English and World Literatures

After graduating from MMC in 2008, Katie Coyle went on to receive her MFA in Fiction (2012) from the University of Pittsburgh. She is the author of the popular young adult fiction series, Vivian Apple.

After graduating from MMC in 2008, Katie Coyle went on to receive her MFA in Fiction (2012) from the University of Pittsburgh where she worked for the University’s literary journal, Hot Metal Bridge. In 2013, her debut novel, Vivian Apple at the End of the World, was first published in the UK by Hot Key Books and then in the United States in 2014 by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. A sequel, Vivian Apple Needs a Miracle, was released in September 2015.

Coyle’s story “Fear Itself”, originally written during her time in graduate school, was published in One Story was awarded the 2016 Pushcart Prize
