Matthew Land

Matt is the Operations Director for the Division of Fine and Performing Arts and the Managing Director for the Theresa Lang Theatre. He oversees the day to day logistics and operations of the Department of Theatre Arts, as well as working with front of house and marketing for the Theresa Lang Theatre. 

Previous to Marymount, Matt worked extensively in the Washington, DC area, most notably at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, the Shakespeare Theatre Company, and Studio Theatre. He previously worked at TheatreVirginia, Barksdale Theatre (now Virginia Repertory Theatre), the Virginia Governor’s School for Science and Art, the University of Richmond’s Modlin Center for the Arts, the Theatre at Monmouth, and Shenandoah University.

Matt has been a lighting designer, scenic designer, sound designer, production manager, recording engineer, scenic & properties carpenter, master electrician, box office manager, house manager, stage manager, marketing manager, podcast producer, radio DJ, and archival photographer.

Matt currently teaches THTR 346, Production Management, as well as THTR 378, Producing Performance.

Matt is originally from Richmond, VA. He holds a BA in Theatre from the College of William and Mary as well as an MFA in Theatre Management from Florida State University.
