Sister Jogues Egan, MMC’s second president, served from 1964 to 1966. Sister Egan served a long tenure with schools in the Marymount network, serving as assistant professor at Marymount College in 1944, principal of Marymount Academy in Tarrytown, academic dean of Marymount College, president of Marymount College in Boca Raton, Fla. Born Johanna Egan, she studied at the Convent of the Sacred Heart of Mary in County Antrim. After coming to America, she graduated from Marymount College with a degree and French and further obtained an M.A. and a Ph.D. in the same subject from McGill University in Montreal and Laval University in Quebec, respectively.
Sister Egan continued her service to MMC as a member of the Board of Trustees from 1964 to 1971. In 1998, Sister Egan passed away at the age of 79.
